News from the California-Pacific United Methodist Annual Conference
"The California-Pacific annual conference met June 16-19, on the campus of the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif., under the leadership of Bishop Mary Ann Swenson. The theme was "Ministry with the Poor: Creating Communities of Justice and Compassion," continuing the conference's emphasis on each of the four areas of focus identified by the 2008 General Conference.
The leadership report included a detailed implementation plan for a new structure that was introduced last year. Known as the Five Essential Ministry Teams, 38 existing conference boards, committees and agencies were reconfigured around stated primary and secondary outcomes. The "5EMT" are Justice & Compassion, Leadership, New Ministries, Resource Ministries and the Ministry of Navigation." Click here to read more of the Summary of the 2011 Session.

In doing so, it joined three other mainstream churches, including the Episcopal Church." Read More.
